As part of the 6th Dangerous Goods Safety Days at the Nürburgring Driving Safety Center, we launched a new fire test to show participants the differences between the various warning signs available on the market.
You can see a video of this test here; the test was carried out with 30 liters of gasoline under the supervision of the Koblenz professional fire department. Due to the strong wind, the test was ended prematurely after a fire duration of just under 9 minutes. According to the current ADR, the warning signs must be legible before, during and after a fire duration of 15 minutes. Since it should take no more than 15 minutes for the fire department to arrive at a hazardous materials accident, it is extremely important that the warning sign be clearly legible for the responders in the event of a fire – because the fire may mean that no shipping documents are available and/or the driver may no longer be responsive. Due to the special nature of Regoplast hazardous material warning panels, firefighters can easily choose the appropriate extinguishing agent and firefighters do not have to put themselves in danger. Likewise, hazards to residents and the environment can be minimized more quickly.
