The requirement for the correct labelling of tank-wagons is anchored in section 5.3.5 of the RID. This specifies that tank-wagons for liquefied, refrigerated liquefied or dissolved gases must be marked with a 30 cm wide orange stripe surrounding the tank at the height of the tank axle. The colour of the stripe is based on that of the orange-coloured plates, which are described in more detail in section 5.3.2.2.1.<\/p>\n<p>During the committee meeting, it was noted that there was no regulation on whose responsibility it is to check the strips if they fade over the years. The majority of the standing working group agreed that the correct labelling should be checked as part of an initial inspection and later as part of interim or regular inspections. The responsibility for the inspection is therefore shared between the consignor, carrier, filler, the operator of the tank-wagon and the inspection body.
